General information:

Government Medical College and Hospital, Keonjhar is a Government Medical College and Hospital set up by the Government of Odisha under Health & Family Welfare Department for teaching and providing multi specialty patient care. This tertiary care hospital provides medical care to all patients of Keonjhar and local areas, including to those tourists coming to the city of Keonjhar.

Campus

The Hospital is located in Keonjhar district, in the State of Odisha. It is situated about 4km from Bus stand and about 4km from railway station (East Coast Railway) in the heart of Keonjhar town.

Enquiry, Reception and Registration Services:

A computerized counter is functioning round the clock. Guide maps have been put up at various places in this hospital. In addition there is a help desk also functioning round the clock.

Casualty & Emergency Services:

All Casualty Services are available round the clock 24 x 7 inside the campus. Duty Doctors are available round the clock. Emergency services are available for all specialities.

OPD Services:

OPD services are available from 9.00 AM to 5.00PM with lunch break from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Various out-patient services available in the hospital such as General Medicine, Paediatrics, Tuberculosis & Respiratory Diseases, Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy (Skin & V.D.), Psychiatry, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology(Eye), Oto-rhino-laryngology (ENT), Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Dental Surgery.

Indoor Patient Services:

Indoor patient care is catering to the needs of this city, nearby villages and also patients who come as Tourists to this city of Keonjhar.  There is a 12 bedded Intensive Care Unit (Central ICU) for taking care of seriously ill patients. There is a Labour Room for conducting deliveries round the clock. 24 x 7 Emergency O.T. facility is available.  Free diet is provided to all the indoor patients as per Odisha Govt. rules.  Every patient is provided pass for his/her attendant for security purpose.  Visitors are allowed only during visiting hours i.e., from 12.30 PM to 1.30 PM and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Laboratory Services:

All routine and emergency laboratory services are available round the clock. Radio Diagnostic Services are available include X-Rays, Ultrasonography.

Other Facilities:

Wheel chair and patient Trolleys and battery operated vehicles are available for transportation of patients.  Ambulance facility is available. Stand-by DG sets have been provided at all locations of the Hospital. Lifts/ramps are available for access to higher floors in addition the Stair case.  Adequate toilet facilities for use of patients and their attendants are available.

Blood Bank

GMCH, Keonjhar has a licensed modern Blood Bank with component separation facility which functions 24 hours a day and provides facilities for blood donation, storage and issue of blood. Stringent precautions are taken and testing is done to prevent any transfusion transmitted borne infection. If your patient requires blood transfusions, then you are requested to arrange healthy blood donors for donating blood in order to reduce shortage of blood. Blood donation camps are held from time to time with help from NGOs.

Miscellaneous Facilities

Ambulance facility is available to transfer patients to other hospitals outside the city or meet any exigency/disaster situation. Various other ambulance services 104, 102 are available.

Responsibilities of Users

The success of this charter depends on the support we receive from our users.

  • Please try to appreciate the various constraints under which the hospital is functioning. On an average, more than 800 patients attend the OPD daily.
  • Please follow the rules and regulations of the hospital while inside the hospital campus.
  • Please do not cause inconvenience to other patients by crowding and silence is to be maintained.
  • Please help us in keeping the hospital and its surroundings neat and clean.
  • Please don’t argue with security guards, show your passes when asked for and help maintain peace and tranquility within the hospital premises.
  • Please use the facilities of this hospital with care and do not damage/ spoil hospital property.
  • Beware of touts and unauthorized persons. Don’t indulge in any money transactions with them. The hospital authority shall not be responsible for any untoward situation arising thereafter.
  • The Hospital is a No Smoking and No Tobacco Zone. Please don’t use any tobacco product inside hospital.
  • Please do not chew betel-nut and spit inside the hospital campus.
  • Please provide useful feedback and constructive suggestions. These may be addressed to the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital / Hospital manager. The GMCH, Keonjhar authority shall try its level best to sort out the problem.
